Analysis of the Gross Ecosystem Product—Gross Domestic Product Synergistic States, Evolutionary Process, and Their Regional Contribution to the Chinese Mainland

The trade-off and synergy relationship between ecosystem services (ESs) human well-being (HWb) in the land-use process has become a research hotspot. evolutionary regional contribution of accurate quantification ESs HWb can provide reference for government departments to formulate macroeconomic policies. Therefore, this study first constructed an analysis framework identify synergistic states/evolutionary stages gross product (GEP) per capita (PGEP) domestic (GDP) (PGDP) GEP–GDP 362 municipal units mainland China from 2000 2015. We did by employing Markov transition probability matrix, land use data, economic data based on satellite remote sensing images. findings show that (1) PGEP Chinese remarkable spatial divergence featuring higher value northwestern lower southeastern both sides Hu Line during investigation period; despite eastern having PGDP, PGDP at national level is distributed dispersion Line; (2) half period, was generally pseudo-synergy stage or primary/intermediate synergy, while second continued improve; (3) relatively stable with 24.28% shifting more western central mainland, it likely shift state northeastern mainland. This suggests varies scales; hierarchical, multiscale approach necessary improve these relationships, as simply extrapolating policies across single administrative levels may lead unintended outcomes.
